Making a lifestyle change is challenging.

Especially when you want to transform more than one thing at once. They require time and sometimes support. But the most difficult part about making a lifestyle change (that sticks) is committing and following through.

In today’s article, I want to show you how it’s possible for business leaders to make lifestyle changes that will last. And once you understand the process, it becomes really easy. Let me explain…

Have you ever seen a rocket blasting off into outer space? The fire viciously firing as it propels the machine off the ground and away from planet earth. It slowly but surely makes its way out of the earth’s atmosphere. And the longer the rocket carries on going up, the easier things become. There’s no gravity or resistance anymore. The rocket is free.

I would say that lifestyle changes are just like that. If you imagine the first one or two weeks of lifestyle changes and compare them with the space shuttle, it takes so much energy to do the changes, to do whatever you need to do, to do the things that you haven’t done before.

And this relates the same way to your lifestyle changes…

The longer you’re able to stick to your new habit – day after day, week after week, it gets easier and easier – until, it becomes effortless. Will power is another factor in achieving lasting change but you’ve only got a limited amount each day.

It’s why some days you simply don’t feel like doing the things you dislike. If you use willpower in the correct way, on situations where it’s most needed, you can make lasting change.

Make your lifestyle changes fun

I cannot stress this enough. If something isn’t fun, you won’t stick to it long enough to see the changes you desire. Not only that, if you’re new routine is fun, it will actually become your ritual – something you’ll never want to be without.

The key to a great life is having fun rituals and habits

But here’s the catch…

No one but you can do the work to make these changes come to life. It all has to come from you. You have to be accountable or have someone to hold you accountable. In other words, they make you do what you say you were going to do.

To summarise my tips on making lifestyle habits that stick:

  1. Use your willpower on the right things
  2. Make your new routine fun
  3. Get somebody to hold you accountable

If you follow these three tips, I can guarantee you will start to see lasting changes in your daily life. This is the key to living a life full of fun, freedom and happiness.
