Leadership Today Comes With Relentless Pressure
Executives often ask the same questions:
- How can I maintain energy while carrying major responsibility?
- How can I think clearly under constant pressure?
- How can I avoid the stress wall many leaders eventually hit?
The answer is not working harder.
It is learning how the human stress system actually works — and how to lead in alignment with it.
Hi, I’m Dr. Annika!
I’m a medical doctor and stress science specialist who helps executives and business leaders sustain high performance under pressure without sacrificing health, clarity, or leadership effectiveness.
After more than 37 years in healthcare and over a decade specializing in stress physiology, I’ve seen a recurring pattern among high-responsibility leaders.
They are capable, ambitious, and committed.
But the demands placed on them often exceed what the human stress system can sustainably handle.
My work focuses on helping leaders understand how their biology responds to pressure, so they can maintain energy, make better decisions, and avoid the burnout many executives eventually face.
Through mentoring, leadership programs, and keynote presentations, I translate complex medical science into clear, practical strategies leaders can apply immediately.
Because leadership today isn’t just strategic.
It’s about sustaining the capacity to lead well over time.

Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
1. How do I know if I’m qualified to work with Dr. Annika?
All engagements begin with a Private Executive Capacity Review.
This is a confidential, science-backed, and medically informed session designed to understand how sustained pressure is currently affecting your performance, energy, and decision-making capacity.
Based on this review, the most suitable next step will then be recommended.
This ensures that any support provided is aligned with your level of responsibility and current needs.
2. What happens during the Private Executive Capacity Review?
The private executive capacity review is a high-level conversation where we will assess how pressure is impacting your ability to perform and sustain leadership over time.
You can expect:
- A structured discussion of your current responsibilities and demands
- Insight into how your stress system may be affecting clarity, energy, and decision-making
- Identification of potential pressure patterns or early risk indicators
- A clear recommendation on what would best support you moving forward
Depending on your situation, the conversation may explore areas such as:
- Where pressure is showing up cognitively vs. physically
- Patterns of decision fatigue and cognitive load
- Recovery gaps, sleep quality, restoration
- Emotional regulation under sustained pressure
- Hidden leadership “energy leaks”
…and more.
The goal is to provide clarity — not overwhelm.
3. What happens after the review?
Following the session, a clear recommendation based on your current situation, level of responsibility, and capacity will be made.
Depending on the level of support required, this may include targeted adjustments and practical strategies, such as:
- Refining how pressure is currently being managed
- Identifying and closing recovery gaps
- Improving energy stability and decision-making patterns
- Addressing specific leadership or workload dynamics
- Recommendation of mentoring sessions or programs suitable for your case.
You may also receive recommendations for supportive practices or get redirected to other helpful or external resources.
In some cases, no immediate engagement may be recommended if it is not the right fit.
The focus is always on what will create the most sustainable outcome for you.
4. When will I start seeing results?
Most leaders begin to notice shifts relatively quickly, particularly in clarity, awareness, and decision-making under pressure.
However, sustainable results come from consistent application.
The goal is not short-term relief, but long-term capacity:
- More stable energy
- Clearer thinking under pressure
- Reduced risk of burnout over time
This is a process of building sustainable performance, not quick fixes.
5. How is this different from traditional coaching?
Traditional approaches often focus on reducing stress or managing symptoms.
My work focuses on understanding and working with the biology of the stress system — particularly in high-responsibility leadership environments.
This allows for:
- A deeper understanding of how pressure affects performance
- More precise, science-based strategies
- Long-term improvements in leadership capacity
It is less about “coping” with stress — and more about performing effectively within it.
6. How do I book Dr. Annika for speaking engagements?
For speaking engagements, workshops, or interviews, please visit the Speaker page and submit an inquiry form with your event details.
From there, you will be guided through the next steps based on your requirements.
7. Can I consult Dr. Annika as a medical doctor?
I am a licensed medical doctor and practice within a clinical setting in Sweden only.
Outside of that setting, I work in an advisory capacity, applying medical knowledge of stress physiology and health to leadership and performance.
While this is not a clinical medical consultation, if anything arises that requires medical attention, you will be advised accordingly.
